Girl's Basketball: Final Reflection

I had never played basketball with all the rules. I might have played some games with family and friends, but
never with all the rules implied. From basketball club I learned so many things that we're needed for the sport.
I was definitely a slacker before, but with this club and smash club I was able to show more commitment.
I was on time every day and I tried my best to really push myself to get better skills. I was planning on learning
these skills for me to try out for the girl's basketball varsity team. I did not make the team. However, with
working with all these new people and coach stocking I learned the sport more.

I was terrible at shooting. Every time we had drills to improve on our shooting I wouldn't do so well.
However, I didn't give up because I really wanted to improve. I was good at defense everyone said,
but shooting the ball was were I was lacking. From what I was learning I was able to help some of
my friends who had also joined Girl's basketball club. I taught them what coach stocking taught us
because they were too shy to ask. I even got to meet new people and also help them.

Not only was I learning, I was somewhat coaching in a way.

This club was fun and helped me learn a lot of about the rules of basketball and how to improve form.
Even though I did not make the basketball varsity team I can work on the skills I need to possibly make
college basketball. It was a learning experience. It pushed me become better and occasionally I play
basketball out of school with friends and family. However, now I have gained some more skills. Some of
my family even mention "wow learned some new tricks I see". It makes me feel like I have improved. :)

Smash Club: Final Reflection

This semester of Smash Club has definitely helped improve my skills in badminton.
I was able to notice that I learned how to place my shots a little bit. I'm obviously
still a beginner and I need to keep practicing to become better. Working and getting
to know other people this semester was nice because they were able to teach me
new things such as the things I needed to work on to get better.

They mentioned footwork a lot.

I even noticed that I have bad footwork.

This was definitely a huge challenge for me. Whenever we had club I'd try to remind myself FOOTWORK, work on your footwork. I believe I have gotten a little bit better on the footwork I'm not everywhere around the court as I use to be. I never gave up and I even now I still don't give up.

I'm so thankful for the fact that with working with these new people I was able to really push myself.

I'm not very good at being on time to things. However with Club I was able to write things down on sticky
notes to remind myself that I have to be at certain clubs at certain times.

I was never late for club because I wanted to join the badminton varsity team later on. I needed to show
that I was always on time and dependable. I really love badminton and I'm sure it shows when I talk about
the sport and when I was at club.

I'm so glad I did Badminton because I was able to relieve my stress after a long day of school and I was
able to improve my skills. I've also gotten better in time management than I was before.

Overall, I believe that smash club caused me to push myself on time management, undertaking the challenge
of footwork, and allowed me to work with others. (learned some new tricks)

Yearbook Club: Entry 1

For the most part I attend Club every Tuesday for 30 minutes until I have Production practice. We are assigned a folder from a certain event and have to choose the best 10 or 15 from that folder. I am able to think on which photos would be the most fitting to be eventually be put in the yearbook. I also have to take pictures of clubs, events, and sports when instructed to do so. This is exciting because I get to use the school's camera and I feel like a "professional photography" when I'm not. hahahaha. I need to start taking pictures of the clubs I was assigned to soon. I emailed her today to have the list of clubs I have to take pictures of.

At least when the Yearbook comes out when I see some pictures I can say "Hey I chose that picture!" :)

Badminton Varsity: Entry 1

I can definitely say that I love Badminton. I look forward to practice every day. Not only does this sport allow me to release my stress from a rough day I am also learning to become a better player. Working with these new people in Badminton is great because I was able to meet new people. We get to verse more schools now and the more I verse other players the more I see I need to work on.

We had a game on February 19 at Brent Manila. It was my ACTUAL first real tournament. I was shaking and nervous because all the other girls looked so pro. I lost 2 games, won 1 because they fore fitted and won 1 on my own against another girl. Playing singles was definitely different for me since I don't get a lot of practice in that  because normally during practice we play doubles.

Since I want to become a better badminton player I need to work on my footwork and being able to clear better. Overall I need to improve. However I want to work on those aspects a little bit more.

Recycling Club: Entry 1

We have Recycling every Thursdays. I am able to balance Recycling with Badminton Varsity quite well.
I am slowly remembering the routes and the houses we are suppose to collect Recycling from. I have been able to work with new people as well. I can tell them what houses were suppose to go to when Ahniyah is not able to attend the club. It's great to see how many houses to take part in recycling. However many houses also don't. I am not able to attend the club till 4pm because I have to rush back to school to make it to the bus for Badminton. However I am there collecting Recyclables from each of the houses until 3:45-ish then I RUN back to school.

Ms. Calimlim was talking to me earlier if I wanted to be a part of making an area where Recyclables can just be thrown and later be sent and recycled. I told her yes I did want to be part of that and she would later on fill me in because I am unable to make their Tuesday meetings. With Yearbook Club and Production. This is great that they are planning a system to have a more efficient way for people to recycle. Since my goal is to learn how to extend recycling ideas in university this will be great for me to have ideas on what work and what doesn't.

I feel like a better person in my contribution to the environment, even if it's a small one.

POCCH going to Brent Subic

This was definitely a hectic day. I had to mix Annie Production and being with the POCCH children.
I was only in one scene for the Annie Run-through and I was there for about 20 minutes. Then I came
rushing back to the children in my group.

When I first saw them coming down the stairs it felt real good to have them scream my name "Ate Kay." many times. They all greeted me and hugged me. I felt real guilty for not being able to come through with my ideas to have another visit there.

The children came up with a group name and i was rather amused with the name "Askals" meaning streetdogs.
I could see that the children were distracted by the jungle gym which made it harder to control them because
they wanted to play. The only difficulties were having to call their name repeatedly to join our group. However
I did enjoy having the Spoon race with the ping pongs. My group never won but I think they were having too
much fun to realize that they lost, which was the best part.  The children kept calling my name frequently just
to greet me every now and then during their visit. I'm glad I was able to leave such an impression on them
that my name was able to stick especially when we did the HUMAN BINGO. They considered me "pretty", "funny", "nice", and "trustworthy". Having them ask me to sign those characteristics were nice to hear that
I gave them those impressions.

We finally had time to just eat and talk, it reminded me of my cousins I have at home and having to ready
dinner time or snack time for them. Even Mr.Chandler thought I was very "motherly". I get that a lot from
people because my friends think I'm more of a mother than a teenager.

When the children had to leave it was quite heartbreaking because they kept repeating goodbye.
Even Nicole (one of the children) she was kissing the van's glass to kiss me. I really want to think of something for them to do. However right now this March is very busy. I was thinking of having them visit again in April while we are just having reviews and no more internal assessments to worry about. Maybe have a summer party since Filipino school end in the first week of April.
