POCCH going to Brent Subic

This was definitely a hectic day. I had to mix Annie Production and being with the POCCH children.
I was only in one scene for the Annie Run-through and I was there for about 20 minutes. Then I came
rushing back to the children in my group.

When I first saw them coming down the stairs it felt real good to have them scream my name "Ate Kay." many times. They all greeted me and hugged me. I felt real guilty for not being able to come through with my ideas to have another visit there.

The children came up with a group name and i was rather amused with the name "Askals" meaning streetdogs.
I could see that the children were distracted by the jungle gym which made it harder to control them because
they wanted to play. The only difficulties were having to call their name repeatedly to join our group. However
I did enjoy having the Spoon race with the ping pongs. My group never won but I think they were having too
much fun to realize that they lost, which was the best part.  The children kept calling my name frequently just
to greet me every now and then during their visit. I'm glad I was able to leave such an impression on them
that my name was able to stick especially when we did the HUMAN BINGO. They considered me "pretty", "funny", "nice", and "trustworthy". Having them ask me to sign those characteristics were nice to hear that
I gave them those impressions.

We finally had time to just eat and talk, it reminded me of my cousins I have at home and having to ready
dinner time or snack time for them. Even Mr.Chandler thought I was very "motherly". I get that a lot from
people because my friends think I'm more of a mother than a teenager.

When the children had to leave it was quite heartbreaking because they kept repeating goodbye.
Even Nicole (one of the children) she was kissing the van's glass to kiss me. I really want to think of something for them to do. However right now this March is very busy. I was thinking of having them visit again in April while we are just having reviews and no more internal assessments to worry about. Maybe have a summer party since Filipino school end in the first week of April.

Well I wanted to actually help make Philippines more clean. Through the recycling club, Ahniyah suggested, I am contributing to this goal. Starting this in process in Binictican is a good start. However the reason why I'm in this club is to see how the set up is and the organization because I want to have this kind of activity after I graduate. I want to have more schools be active in this process. But I don't know how. So in doing this club I will be able to learn how I could further extend in the future.

Orphanage visit (November 13, 2010)

This is a long and overdue blog about my experience in the orphanage..

well when i arrived at school i thought no one was going to come on time so i was scared...i waited a little while then everyone came at the same time which was shocking. so we drove over there to the POOCH and it was great however I didn't know how to start off. I mean I planned out what I was going to say...but when i was there it kind of disappeared. So i was trying to get everyone to just talk for a few minutes and get to know the boys because the girls were on there way to the boys house. (girls live in a separate house not too far off) It took a long time to wait so I just eventually started to introduce everyone formally with the boys then eventually move on to the girls. I didn't know saying names would take so long hahaha. Just as we were about to finish the girls finally came and I just made everyone repeat themselves to better enforce their names.All of the boys were excited to play outside with Abbas, Jimmy, Young Hoi, and Mitchell. So they headed out the door quickly. All of the girls were pretty shy at first however they eventually warmed up when we started the coloring and the drawing. I tried to make them laugh as much as possible so they wouldn't be so shy around me. They eventually were fine with me and weren't so shy. After a long period of coloring the children and I played outside. We played "Tag" and "Hit the can" some fun outside games. Everyone seemed shocked that I was playing children games in the street but the kids really enjoyed it. The time went by so quickly and it was almost time for us to go. And I was so shocked when I saw Kairen had bought all the snacks at a "Sari Sari store" across the street for the children. I think everyone was pretty impressed with what Kairen did. We all took a BIG group picture in the end and we were on are way back to school.

The guys were in the other van while us girls were in Ramona's car. The girls (Ramona, Mrs. Kabigting, Jana, Eun Hoi, and myself) talked about the experience of being with the children.We planned a lot of stuff to do for their christmas party but we weren't able to throw one due to my poor time management and planning. Plus it was hard to get everyone back together on one day. However I really want to make it up and have the kids come here for a Valentines day party for them.

While then I have to talk to Kuya Zaldy ASAP. Then inform Mr. Tolentino, Mr. Chandler, and the "crew".

It's hard to balance everything together.
It's one of my goals for CAS to is balance my time more.
Yet I feel like I failed...

Since I have many papers to finish for next week I will plan a Valentines day party here at school. Since I did promise them a party. This will be great. I will need to text Kuya Zaldy when I get home and actually plan a date...

Ugh...TIME MANAGEMENT...I definitely need to work on...
